Revolutionised Learning: Summit Systems Launches Cutting-Edge E-Learning Programme

10 November 2017

When Summit Systems first signed up to The British Plastics Federation initiative 'SIMPL' Safety in Manufacturing Plastics back in 2011 it resonated with their focus on the years ahead and their commitment to reduce accidents within the workplace.

Commencing with the implementation of an Internal Health & Safety Committee two years ago, the Company saw a reduction in common minor accidents and near miss reporting. However, not letting the impetus falter, the Committee, steered by Ian Lowe, Operations Director at Summit Systems was key to implementing the first E-Learning programme.

With the assistance of their Insurance provider, the online training tool covers a wide range of health and safety topics from Slips and Trips, Manual Handling to Stress Management.

Employees are encouraged to utilise their training time to complete their tutorials and exams in their specific fields of work on an annual basis.

Speaking earlier, Ian Lowe commented that he was encouraged to see the take up of the initiative and the high pass rates. “It’s important to deliver knowledge in an environment conducive to learning that has an impact on the culture in our business that is time and cost effective.

Not only does it show we value our employees, their safety is key along with the focus on mental health too from pressures both in and outside of the work environment”.

Some of the key aspects of Summit’s success over many years has been employee engagement whilst a more commonly used phrase today, the actual sentiment has always been at the core of the business.
