GETTING EVEN DIRTIER - Shelley & Vikki's Blog
Are you starting to see a thread here?
People who work at Summit like getting dirty and in the words of one of the female team leaders at the recent Paintballing Extravaganza are "wannabe Super Action Heroes"
We fielded two teams of 10 both bravely led by ladies, namely Becki(PurpleTeam) and Shelley(Orange Team) from the HelpDesk. The event was made up of 4 games of varying difficulty and hazards. Out on the field both teams held back in the first game, anticipating the pain of a direct hit. By the last couple of minutes the only players remaining on the field were Vicki (Sales Administration), Stuart (Fabrications) and Shelley. Shelley managed to recover the flag for her team whilst adopting a unique and rather unstylish run, but unfortunately did not get the flag back to the team base before time out. Still, 2 points in the lead at this stage was a result.
In the second game the pace picked up, hits had not been as painful as anticpated. This time there was a bridge and a flag to defend on each side. The utilisation of strategies in this game allowed the fearless Sam(MD) and Shay(Service Engineer) to play leading roles in the attack, whilst another member of the team sacrificed himself in a straight run down the middle drawing fire. Further attacks were staged by Alan,Aaron,Craig (Warehouse) and Lee(Financial Director). Shelleys team decided on a full charge as the game drew to an end and on Shelley's command Steve(Sales) ,Graham(Project Management), Mark(Service) leapt into action. Sadly Mark met his Waterloo in a stream at the hands of Vicki. The second game ended in a draw with the total scores standing at Shelley 3 Becki 1.
Game Three involved a lot of huts and places to hide. In this game you had to actually find the flag first and then move it to a designated area. Whilst the guys on the Purple Team took front positions, Becki and Vicki took a back seat and hid in the bushes. The Purple flag was soon found in a hut by Jayne (Spares) and the decision was made for Shelley to defend the hut to protect the flag. In a move likely to provoke a full official enquiry Jayne was hit by a member of her own team staging an attack on the opposite hut. Play was fast an furious with a mixture of mistaken identity and heroic attempts to capture flags, but ended in victory for the Purple Team. So with the points close it was all on the final game.
Game Four and the pressure was on. It started cautious and slow. All about trenches and getting to opposite ends of the field where your team flag was situated without being shot and also with paintballs still remaining in your gun. The Orange Team had 4 members: Jayne, Richard(Accounts) Daz(Warehouse) and Shelley behind the final trench to protect the flag. Mark, Steve, Jason,Graham and Stuart all pushed forward to try to eliminate as many of the opposition as possible. For the Purple Team Becki, James(Service) and Vikki took defence, whilst Sam,struck out to the side, leaving Aaron,Shay,Lee and others to attack. The Orange Team were pushing hard on the Purple Team, but had no idea exactly how many Purples were still in play. In what was a debatable career move, Steve; having sussed out Sam's tactics took out both Sam and his shoes. James exited play shortly after. Shelley was about to dispatch Becki when Vicki emerged from the undergrowth and "killed" her. How's that for team loyalty?
A victorious Purple Team decided that there are quite a few "SuperWomen" working in the Summit Team....which of course we already knew!
If you are a company working within the plastics industry and fancy a go at a crack team from Summit (Paintballing only) we would love to hear from you. Maybe we can organise a tournament. Contact: sally.bailey@summitsystems.co.uk
